Jaisalmer diaries

Sorry for not been able to post in months. Work has kept me busy.

We visited Jaisalmer in January as a family vacation. It was the perfect weather to visit the city.

The most sought tourist destination in India Jaisalmer, the golden city, is well known for its magnificent fort, soulful music, folk dances, exquisite Rajasthani delicacies and huge Sam Sand dunes.

It lies towards the western frontier of India, near the India-Pakistan border, and is well known for its close proximity to Thar desert, the largest desert in Asia.

Tourist came to the city to have a camping experience at the heart of the desert under a stary night away from the hustle bustle of city, enjoying the soulful music and the folk dance of Rajasthan by the native artists and to explore the vividness of the desert on bumpy camel ride or the adventurous jeep safari amidst the huge sand dunes. The jeep safari is the experience that gives adrenaline rush to the tourist making the visit to Thar the memorable experience, the one that people cherish throughout their life.

The breathtaking view of breaking of a dawn giving the sky its crimson colour and the spectacular views of the sunset amidst the huge sand dunes are rich and joyful experience of the Thar.

With its diversified geographical features and traditionally rich culture, the city offers something to everyone who visit this place.

From the grandeur of the fort to the colourful shopping lanes of the city, Jaisalmer has preserved its charm of being royal and lively.

All the architectural building and monuments are masterpiece in itself. The yellow sand stone used to build these buildings gives the city its yellowish golden tinge and make it bright and beautiful.

The one, who is keen to enjoy the true colours of India, must visit this Land of kings. The magnificent fort that sings the praise of the royals of Rajasthan and the grand havelis that narrates the opulent history of Jaisalmer introduce the tourist to the rich and royal face of India.

Best time to visit the city is November-March.

Days are pleasant and nights are cold.

Stay tune to know where to stay and more about jaisalmer.

Enchanting Gadisar Lake

This beautiful man-made reservoir, known as Gadisar Lake is in the golden city Jaisalmer in the Rajasthan State of India. Surrounded by banks and temples all around, it is a picturesque location. It is one of the main tourist attraction.

Visit this scenic place to spend your evening watching the sun as it goes down, giving its final goodbye kiss to the sky with a promise to return next day and embracing the sky with its orangish streak. The beautiful reflection of the sky make this lake more enchanting. The bells of temples, the calmness of the flowing water and the rustling trees is a sight that one can only feel and the serenity it offers can be describe only by poets in their poems. I will not do the justice even if I try hard to describe it.

There is a boating facility available so you can easily take a tour of the lake in a boat, capturing the beauty of the nature to admire it later and to add in your memories through pictures.

There are no food stalls around but many road side shops. You can get your souvenir  from there. Don’t forget to bargain as there is a lot of scope to do it. The souvenirs are very highly priced.

This beautiful lake was built by the first ruler of the Jaisalmer city, Raja Rawal Jaisal. It was built with an objective to fulfill the water requirement of the city.
